One Email Away®️ Blog

You've got mail

Copywriting is just one part of email marketing. 🤯

In fact, it’s just one piece of the puzzle.

I know, everyone says otherwise.

And they say that A LOT. 🫠

Why?

Because the word “email” makes you think about “a letter”.
Using words to convey a message.

In other words: writing. 🖋️

However, “email” means “electronic mail”: “a communication method that uses electronic devices to deliver messages across computer networks” (source: Cloudflare blog).

Therefore, your focus should be on the electronic part more than the mail part.

Electronic mail was invented in 1971 but became popular only between 1980 and 1990.
It started as a tool available for government, universities, the military and other business facilities.

It became available to people only in the mid-1990s with what we all know as “webmail”.
Before then, sending mail was sending physical, sometimes handwritten, paper with your words in it. 📄

This old concept makes us think that the same applies today.

If I write amazing emails, I will get clients, grow my business and become so rich my Karen neighbour will cut my roses out of spite. 👹

The reality is that without the electronic part, nobody will ever even read your amazing copy, or it will land in the inbox of someone who could not care less.

Even Karens, and they will immediately mark you as spam. 😈

If you are having issues with your emails, wait a moment before blaming your copywriters.

Check your systems, DNS records, automations, ESPs, and anything else tech-wise. 👩🏻‍💻

And if you need help to audit all that, get in touch.

Possibly via direct message on LinkedIn, unless you are sure you will end up in my inbox! 😂
